Influenza Type A

influenza type a
My son is 11, just diagnosed with Type A Flu, he is juvenile diabetic. What worries do I have to worry about?

Son has fever, diagnosed with Type A Influenza, how contagious is he with other family members. Doctor told me just watch fever and keep fluids in him? Does he have H1N1.

My son who is 10 just got over type A influenza..from what I have read and what his doctor told me is that 90% of all Influenza A is H1N1..the CDC is no longer testing because most Type A is H1N1..my whole family did get it…it is very contagious..I tried to contain him to one room as well as use disenfectants..and he even wore a mask when he came out of his room..but when you are in close quarters with someone everyone is bound to get it..and your doctor is right..you just watch the fever..give him tylenol and motrin..keep him hydrated and he should be fine..He will feel bad for about a week and then he will be fine..Don’t let the media scare you about the swine flu..it is really just like the regular flu..Just watch him and if he doesn’t seem to be getting better then take him back to the doctor..but my whole family including my 2 year old recovered fine..good luck
